NEB does not print a percentage on transcripts. However, the GPA × 25 formula is the most widely accepted method used by Tribhuvan University, Nepalese embassies (NOC), and banks for education loans.

WES Evaluation Tip (USA & Canada)

Applying abroad? This converter gives a quick 25-multiplier estimate. However, WES evaluates subject-wise credits. An A in a 4-credit subject carries more weight than an A in a 2-credit subject.

How to Calculate NEB GPA (Step-by-Step Guide)

Calculating your NEB Class 12 GPA is more than just averaging your marks; it is based on a weighted credit hour system. Each subject in the Grade 11 and 12 curriculum is assigned specific credit hours (usually 5 for major subjects and 3 for others). To calculate your GPA manually, follow these steps:

  1. Identify Grade Points: First, convert your letter grades (A+, A, B+, etc.) into grade points ($A+ = 4.0$, $A = 3.6$, $B+ = 3.2$, etc.).
  2. Calculate Quality Points: Multiply the grade point of each subject by its total credit hours. For example, if you get an A (3.6) in English (5 credits), your quality point is $3.6 \times 5 = 18.0$.
  3. Sum of Quality Points: Add the quality points of all subjects together.
  4. Total Credit Hours: Sum the total credit hours of your course (usually 27 or 30 for the NEB curriculum).
  5. Final GPA Formula: Divide the Total Quality Points by the Total Credit Hours.

$$GPA = \frac{\sum (\text{Grade Point} \times \text{Credit Hours})}{\text{Total Credit Hours}}$$

Note: According to the latest Letter Grading Directive, you must score a minimum of 35% in theory and 40% in practical for every subject to be eligible for a GPA. If you score lower, you will receive an NG (Non-Graded) status and must appear for the grade increment examination.
